August Meeting and Speaker Pat Harrison

Our August meeting was filled with a special speaker, our own Pat Harrison who also shared her work and provided a workshop.  We enjoyed Show and Tell and just being together!

Tara T created this quilt using blocks from a guild block exchange.

Tina has been busy making jackets for her daughter and for herself!

Tina used a chenille piece from her mother for her daughter and for herself.

And Tina's hexies !

Baby Quilts using the the same block yet differently arranged.

This piece was created from her husband's suit he wore to their wedding with other wedding mementos.  What a special way to preserve special items.

A beautiful scrappy quilt!

A finished workshop quilt!

Sheila finished this quilt for herself and for her husband, Journey to infinity.
She chose colors that express ocean sunrise and sunset, a special quilt, specially created.  She estimates it took her 330 hours.

An example of Please Don't Touch the Quilts, this year's Guild Challenge.

Tora made this quilt of birds for the Bird Raffle Basket!

Our members finished many quilts to be donated locally  under the direction of our Outreach Committee.

In honor of Tora S who recently passed away.  We honored her recently for her amazing leadership and guidance for our Outreach Quilts, donated to local groups.

There are always ready to take packets to be worked on in many stages to be
donated locally when finished.

Placemats are being collected for Meals on Wheels.  The placemats will be delivered with the holiday meal this December.

We exchanged blocks in an optional Half Square Triangle block exchange.

In honor of Tora.  We will miss her at our meetings.  She possessed incredible knowledge about the history of textiles, and guided us with our Outreach Quilts
.

Pat Harrison spoke about her work.  Pat G, program committee introduced her to our group.

Here are scenes from our workshop with Pat H, where we learned how to "Circle Those Scraps."  What a fun day we all had!
Cheryl K arranges her Tula Pink fabrics.

Bev loves her turquioises!

Queen Pat presses her circle piece to prepare it for combining with other blocks.

Erin C presses her strips.

Betty and Heidi have fun playing with curved seams.

Pat demonstrates embroidery stitches and the Quilter's Knot.

At the end of the day, we were very happy with our work.  Pat H is a great teacher!
