Ninigret Quilters is an organization for quilters of all abilities in the Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut area. We meet on the second Tuesday of every month at 7pm at the Westerly Senior Center, 39 State Street, Westerly, Rhode Island (Google Maps) to share our common passion of quilting. Guests and new members are always welcome!

SEPTEMBER 28:  OUTREACH WORKSHOP 

WHERE: Habitat for Humanity Warehouse, 1645 Shannock Road, Charlestown, RI 

WHEN: Monday, September 28, 9-3 

WHAT: Join fellow Ninigret Quilters members to lend a hand on a variety of outreach tasks.  These are selected based on needs at the time and stash levels and could include cutting, pressing, stitching, binding, playing with fabric, laying out blocks… COME JOIN THE FUN

SEPTEMBER 19:  THIRD Saturday Sew-In

Come to the Senior Center from 9 to 2 and work on any project you want with your quilting friends.  There are always outreach quilts to work on and Christmas gifts to be sewn! If you are working on the Shoreline Project Quilt, this is a good opportunity as well.  

OCTOBER Happenings 🎃🎃🎃

October Meeting:  Tuesday, October 13, - Jenny Bee Quilt - Jenny will present a trunk show featuring the fabric and quilts she found in India. She will discuss the history of  Kantha cloth.  Indian kantha fabric is a traditional style of hand-stitched quilted textile from India and Bangladesh.  It is made by layering old cotton saris or soft cloth together and joining them with thousands of fine straight running stitches.  Jenny will also show jackets, quilts, and other items made from this fabric.  Bring your wallets!  Jenny Bee will have fabric for sale.

September Membership Meeting - Tuesday, September 8, 2026

We'll be meeting at 7 pm at the Westerly Senior Center. Sue Pelland will present her Fast and Fabulous Rotary Cut Applique Lecture-Trunk Show. Sue will show us some of her award-winning quilts made with her rulers.

She will follow up with a workshop on Saturday, September 12th, at the Senior Center 10am - 4 pm.

Project: Drunkard’s Path Wallhanging Learn how to create this iconic quilt without curved piecing! Using rotary-cut applique–and the Hearts and More Templates- you’ll use every stitch of fabric to make the Drunkard’s Path. A favorite pattern for all skill levels. ***Sue will bring enough of her rulers for each student to use in class. Sue is a great teacher and is very creative too. This will be a fun workshop.

Where: Ninigret Park, Charlestown, at the pavilion.

Bring: Your dinner, tableware and an appetizer or dessert to share. Drinks will be provided.

 June Meeting & Other News

Our Next Meeting is Tuesday, June 9th at 7 pm At the Westerly Senior Center.  

Valerie Morton will present her ”Quilts From Special Events” Trunk Show.

There will also be a workshop on Wednesday, June 10th.  Valerie will present her Scrappy Beach-Themed Mystery Quilt  from 9am-4pm at the Habitat Warehouse Building, 1645 Shannock Rd., Charlestown

Bring your Carolyn’s Star June BOM. If you are struggling you can contact Cheryl or Pat.

Visitors are welcome to attend the meeting.  ($5 fee)

May General Membership Meeting

The May General Membership Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 12th at 7 pm at the Westerly Senior Center.   Janet Elia will present  Spiffy Bindings.  She will also hold a workshop on May 13th where you will learn all types of bindings (sign-up required).

Please remember to bring your Block of the Month if you are participating!

 April General Membership Meeting!


The April General Membership Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 14th at the Westerly Senior Center.  The meeting begins at 7 pm.  During the first hour of our guild meeting, we have several members that will demonstrate skills. Each demonstration will last 15 minutes and members will have the opportunity to choose 4 demonstrations to observe during this time.

We will also have a business meeting, refreshments and the always popular Show & Tell.  

Remember to also check out the Ways & Means table(s) for great recycled materials for your quilting room and your next quilt


Visitors are welcome to attend.  ($5 fee)

On January 13th, Tara Faughnan will present on the topic of "Color and Design" and on Wednesday from 10-4 she will teach a workshop called Scrappy Lone Star. You can check out her very colorful website at https://tarafaughnan.com. 

 

February 10th brings us Jane Sassaman (janesassaman.com); she will be speaking to us and showing us her trunk show "Jane's Textile Treasures". The following day's workshop is called "Pattern Play" (photo also attached) and you can find great descriptions on her web site.

December Meetings and Events

 

Our new co-presidents were introduced at our December Meeting!!!  We are going to have a great time ahead!

During our December meeting, we held a silent auction for quits donated to our guild.  These very special pieces were made by members who passed and lovingly left their work to us.  The proceeds will be donated to local charities we support.

OCTOBER MEETING and Guild Challenge

Our guild members were challenged to create a 12 x 12" quilt under the title, "Please Don't Touch the Quilts" to be displayed at our Quilt Show.  Members voted for the challenge quilts.
