December Open Sew and Outreach Sew

 On a rainy Saturday in December, a nice group of our members gathered to sew, chat, admire, share and laugh.  we truly enjoyed this wonderful day together.

Margaret got her cat quilt put together.  Each cat is made of a different cat themed fabric, and she used fish for the border.  So very clever!

What fun we had!!!

Alice happily inspects her strips while others enjoy chatting about sewing and chatting happily in general!

We brought scissors and blades for B'ladies to sharpen for us.

we love to share our work and to share what we do, that is for sure.

This placemat made by President Pat will be given to meals on wheels for 

distribution at a special holiday meal.

We thank them for all our wonderful programs they put together for us!

November Meeting

At our November meeting our "Bag People" shared the bags they made from the Charlie MacDonald workshop! 

And it was soooo much fun!!!

Our November Block of the Month was quite popular and so pretty!  Don't you love how they look when put all together?

Audrey shares a piece quilted by Jen.

Audrey has finally made a quilt for herself...after quilting for 38 years.  She loves coffee so coffee is on this side....but look at the other side....

Chocolate is on the other side~~~~~yummy!

Ellie has created three pieces of veggies for a January display at the Westerly Armory.  

The display will be about gardening.  Here is her leeks piece. 

And here is Ellie's corn growing...

These beets are just beautiful!   Ellie has a unique and beautiful style of working with fabric.

Maria shared her very festive pumpkin!

Roberta finished an embroidery piece started in a workshop 

presented by Lynn Kane and added a flange binding.  

Her other piece is an art quilt from a Betsy Habich workshop 

where she learned to transition a photo into a quilted image.

Tina admits she is obsessed with 3 dimensional EPP (English Paper  Piecing).

Cheryl has completed a quilt or a friend.                                Nicole made an apron from a scrappy collection of fabric.

These quilts are from our Outreach Group.  

Many members work on different parts of the quilting process.

Our speaker, Kathie Beltz gave an excellent presentation on colors and quilting.  

She is well known for her quilt, "Skyfall" where 

each star is made of complementary or analogous color combinations.

Kathie explains color lightness and darkness 

and how this can create various effects in a

 quilt.

These two quilts are the same pattern but are made using different color schemes.

Kathie's poppy is made of many different reds.

We enjoyed Kathie Beltz's talk on color in quilts.

Members have been making placemats for meals on wheels to be distributed during this holiday season.

Our BOM (Block of the Month) was a huge success!

Our upcoming December block was on display to inspire us.
