December 13, 2016

This was our annual Holiday Party. Member brought either an appetizer
or a dessert to share. My favorite type of dinner!!

Several members brought handmade crafts for a silent auction to benefit our favorite causes.
Below are some of the auction offerings.

 Show & Tell

Rose started us off with a quilt made from a free quilt pattern she received in the mail.
She included one block as part of the label on the back.

The pattern worked out so well, she made a baby quilt for a child due in April.

Barbara C used some free patterns found on Bonnie Hunter's website.
The first pattern was called Boxy Stars.
And Barbara's second quilt was from Bonnie Hunter's pattern Bricks and Stepping Stones
She made this for her nephew.

Mary Kay made this Christmas gift for her lucky sister.

Nancy L has made this quilt for her daughter upon graduation
from nursing school. It features fabrics with Eiffel Tower designs
and some breast cancer commemorative fabrics.

Nancy also displayed this cute paper pieced snowman quilt.
She purchased this pattern online.
Jane L made two quilts featuring foundation piecing for her twin granddaughters.
Jane says this foundation piecing is addictive.  Here is the first.

And here is Jane's second quilt using the same foundation piecing.

Suzanne W made her first modern quilt using some favorite bird fabrics.

The back of Suzanne's quilt shows the birds on a wire.

Linda K displayed her new Christmas quilt which is destined for Linda's bed!
The quilt was long arm quilted by April Gilroy.
The quilting features bells and holly leaves. Lovely!

Susan W shared her first attempt at a modern quilt.
This baby quilt is destined for her new grandson.

Susan also displayed some totes.

And lastly, a Christmas Table Topper.

Sheila had fun with some label fabric found on the Ways & Means table.
First she displayed this wall hanging she made for her daughter using
a mini quilt hanger donated by Tina.

And this potholder featuring the same Gingerbread recipe
Sheila's grandmother used to make.

Ellie decided to make a tote for her egg production.
This one holds 12 dozen eggs!

Roberta B made this lovely quilt and warned us all
to PREWASH your reds. This lovely inner peach border
started out as a white fabric with yellow flowers.
(Personally, I like the peach!)

Tina displayed her version of Bonnie Hunter's
Narragansett Blues.

Tina used this lovely yardage for her backing.

Tina also showed this quilt made with V & Co's Ombre Fabric
which features graduated tones of the same color.

Molly O practiced her free motion quilting
on this pair of baby quilts for twins-to-be.

And played with some more FMQ on this pillow for
Mom-to-be.

Upcoming Program

Our January speaker will be Linda Warren of Linda Warren Designs.
Tina displayed two of Linda's designs. This first is her 'easy overlay' pattern.

And the second quilt Tina displayed is Linda Warren's 'Easy Weave' design.

Happy Holidays and Quilt On!!
